Due to a leg injury, Kane Williamson was unable to participate in the opening game of the Indian Premier League 2023. But as of late, it has been revealed that the skipper of New Zealand won’t be able to participate in the ICC World Cup 2023, which begins this year. Williamson was actually injured while attempting a catch during the first IPL 2023 game between the Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
In the next three weeks, this right-handed batsman will undergo surgery, according to a release from New Zealand Cricket. After hearing this news, Williamson thanked New Zealand Cricket and his IPL team for their support.
He said, “I have received a lot of support in the past and I thank Gujarat Titans for this. It is natural that I am disappointed with such an injury, but my focus is now on surgery and regaining fitness.” He also mentioned, “It will take some time but I will do my best to get back on the field as soon as possible.”
Given how long it takes to completely recover from this kind of injury and regain fitness, it appears unlikely that Williamson will be ready for the ODI World Cup in October or November.
