World Cup Qualifiers: OMG! Zimbabwe beats West Indies, Updated Points Table

World Cup Qualifiers: The qualifier matches of the World Cup 2023 are being played in Zimbabwe from 18 June. A total of ten teams will participate in the World Cup 2023, out of which eight seats are already booked. Total ten teams are playing the qualifier matches of world cup 2023 out of which only two teams will qualify for WC 2023. On Saturday, Zimbabwe defeated the West Indies, completely altering the points standings.

The teams from Nepal, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates are currently considered officially eliminated from the World Cup Super-10 race. But Ireland has also collapsed its opening two games. Ireland will take on Sri Lanka today. Ireland will no longer be eligible to compete in the ODI World Cup in 2023 if it loses today.

OMG! Zimbabwe beats West Indies

In a major upset at the ICC World Cup 2023, Zimbabwe defeated West Indies by 35 runs. In this game, the Zimbabwean team batted first and scored 268 runs, to which the entire West Indies team all-out on 233 runs. This defeat in the qualifying rounds is nothing less than a major setback for the two-time ODI World Cup champion West Indies.

Current status of the Points Table

Ten teams are split into two groups for the qualification round. From Group A, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands, and the West Indies have advanced to the Super 6. However, no team from Group B has made it to the Super 6. The three teams with the best chances of making it to the Super-6 are Scotland, Oman, and Sri Lanka.

The 2023 ODI World Cup will feature teams from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, and England. Now the remaining two teams will come from the qualifiers round.. Then, in October or November, the main event will take place. Team India will enter the World Cup as the favorite because they will be playing at home.
