Bumrah has not played a single match since September 2022. He missed the T20 World Cup, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Ravi Shastri recently said in an interview that the ODI World Cup is at the end of this year, so hurrying his return can prove to be a big deal for the Indian team.
Shastri told in an interview, “He (Bumrah) is a very important cricketer. But if you rush him for the World Cup, you can lose him after four months like Shaheen Afridi. So there is a fine line and This needs to be considered.”
Coach Rahul Dravid and the Indian team management want Jasprit Bumrah to be fit before the World Cup 2023 and become a part of the Indian team’s playing. Only time will tell how far it will be right to hurry with such a player who has been out of cricket for the last one and half years.
