Qualification Scenario of West Indies
ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023

The two-time world champion West Indies now face a challenging path to the ICC World Cup 2023. The Caribbean team is struggling as a result of the defeat to the Netherlands. West Indies managed to secure a spot in the Super Six, but in order to compete in the World Cup, the team will now need to put on a charismatic performance. Please allow us to explain how West Indies can still make the World Cup.

All remaining matches must be Won

The West Indies now face a challenging World Cup schedule following their loss to the Netherlands. West Indies must win all three of the Caribbean team’s remaining matches in the ICC World Cup qualifiers by a wide margin. West Indies must play against Sri Lanka, Scotland, and Oman.

Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will have to lose their matches

The West Indies will need to hope that Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka lose at least two of their remaining three matches in addition to winning all three of their games. The Caribbean team will be ahead in terms of net Run-rate if the West Indies are able to win all three of their games while the rest of the team stays at six points.

2nd Scenario –

West Indies will have another opportunity to qualify for the World Cup in 2023, and net runrate will not play a significant role in this. In fact, this will occur if Zimbabwe loses every game in the Super Six. Additionally, despite losing to the West Indies, Sri Lanka was able to come out strong in their final two games. Scotland and the Netherlands each only managed to win one game, while Oman managed to win two. If this formula is correct, Sri Lanka will finish the competition with eight points, West Indies with six points, and the remaining teams will each have four points.
