In an unexpected change of events, England Test captain Ben Stokes is likely to come out of retirement in ODIs ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Stokes, who declared his retirement from One-Day Internationals last year, claiming his inability to maintain himself as an all-format player due to tough schedule and a faulty knee, is ready to make a comeback and assist England in their World Cup defense.

The all-rounder has been dealing with a knee issue and did not bowl in any of the remaining three Tests of the 2023 Ashes as a result.
