The selection of Team India for the Asia Cup 2023 has not been announced yet. It is expected that the team will be revealed on August 20th. In the recent T20 series against the West Indies, Sanju Samson played but did not have a standout performance. He was also a part of the ODI series, where he scored a half-century. However, his place in the team is now in danger, especially if KL Rahul returns to the team after recovering from his injury.

In the Bridgetown ODI, Samson scored only 9 runs, but he bounced back in the next match with a half-century, scoring 51 runs. In the T20 series, he scored 12 runs in the first match and 7 runs in the second match. He did not get a chance to bat in the next two matches and got out after scoring 13 runs in the final T20. As a result, his place in Team India is under threat.

According to a news report from News18, wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul may soon make a comeback to the field and may also have a chance to be a part of the Asia Cup squad. However, no official information has been revealed regarding this. Krishna and Jasprit Bumrah, who were sidelined due to injury, have returned to the team for the T20 series against Ireland. Bumrah will captain Team India in the absence of regular captain Hardik Pandya. There are now hopes of Rahul’s comeback as well.

It is worth mentioning that KL Rahul last played an ODI for India in March 2023 against Australia. In his ODI career, he has scored 1986 runs in 54 matches, including 5 centuries and 13 half-centuries. In T20 International matches, he has scored 2265 runs in 72 matches with 2 centuries and 22 half-centuries.

As of now, we have to wait for the official announcement regarding the selection of the Team India squad for the Asia Cup 2023 to know the final composition of the team.
