Virat Kohli Breaks Sachin’s Record With His 77th-Century: A big match is underway as India and Pakistan are face-to-face in Colombo, and as usual, “run-machine” Virat Kohli delivered on the big stages. In his blistering innings, Virat Kohli breaks Sachin’s record with his 77th century in the IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s match.

Putting behind the flop show in the Asia Cup opener, Virat Kohli fired a sizzling century today and shattered a few records including the fastest player to reach the 13000 ODI runs mark.

During yet another outstanding ODI performance against Pakistan, Virat Kohli shattered a long-standing Sachin Tendulkar record. Kohli became the fifth player to achieve 13,000 ODI runs in men’s ODIs with his amazing performance against Pakistan.

Stats show Virat Kohli has scored 13024 runs in 267 innings in 278 ODI matches. No other batter has racked up 13 thousand runs in ODIs in fewer innings than this one. In his ODI career thus far, Virat Kohli has 47 hundreds. In addition to this, the former Indian skipper has scored 65 fifties.

Virat Kohli Breaks Sachin’s Record

Virat Kohli has become the fastest individual to cross the 13000-run mark. Kohli has achieved the milestone in a quicker fashion than any other cricketer, surpassing Tendulkar, who took 321 innings to get there. While Jayasuriya attained the milestone in 416 innings, Ponting (341) and Sangakkara (363) required more than 300 innings each.

Kohli is the modern-day masterclass as he is the only player to have crossed 13000 ODI runs and that too averaging over 50. With 47 ODI hundreds, Kohli is also just two away from equalling Tendulkar’s record tally of ODI tons.

He has also added his name to the Top 5 ODI run-getters and is the only active player in the top 10 of the list.

The No.3 batter began from his overnight score of seven, surviving an early review for being caught behind off Naseem Shah’s over. After that, he appeared in excellent form and teamed up with an aggressive KL Rahul to really drive home India’s strong start.

It took Kohli 55 balls to get his half-century but only 29 more to reach his 47th ODI hundred. Rahul also reached his century in the meantime, giving India a substantial total in Colombo.
