Early Life and Career

Tewatia’s breakthrough season came in 2016-17, where he was the leading wicket-taker for Haryana in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, a domestic one-day tournament. He took 19 wickets in 8 matches at an impressive average of 14.21. This performance earned him a place in the IPL for the first time in 2017.

IPL Career

Rahul Tewatia was picked up by the Kings XI Punjab in the 2017 IPL auction for a sum of INR 25 lakhs. He played only 2 matches for the team that season and did not get a chance to showcase his skills. He was then picked up by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the 2018 IPL auction for INR 3 crores. He played only 5 matches that season and did not make much of an impact.

It was in the 2020 IPL season that Tewatia rose to fame with his incredible performances for the Rajasthan Royals. He played a crucial role in the team’s win against the Kings XI Punjab, where he scored a blistering 53 off 31 balls, including 5 sixes in an over off the bowling of Sheldon Cottrell. This innings earned him widespread recognition and made him an overnight sensation.

Tewatia continued his good form throughout the tournament and ended up with 255 runs and 10 wickets in 14 matches. He was one of the standout performers for the Rajasthan Royals and played a crucial role in the team’s campaign .
