World Cup 2023: The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is among the most iconic venues in Indian cricket history. It is the site of the most memorable World Cup final of 2011, in which Captain MS Dhoni and company secured the cup after 28 years. As per recent developments, the Mumbai Cricket Association now seeks to facelift the Wankhede Stadium’s appearance by adding new floodlights.
According to PTI, MCA is planning to substantially upgrade the stadium. Modern LED floodlights will be installed at the stadium as part of renovation plans, and hospitality boxes will also get a makeover to provide fans with a more modern and improved experience.
Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium is one of the five venues the BCCI has picked for renovation. The home ground of Mumbai Indians (MI) hosted seven league matches during the 2023 season. It was announced by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that sealed bids are being sought for the projected LED Flood Lighting system with DMX controls at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium.
“Sealed tenders are invited for the proposed LED Flood Lighting system with DMX controls at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The scope of work is described in the tender document,” the Mumbai Cricket Association said on its website.
The Wankhede Stadium, famed for its long cricketing history and iconic reputation, has already undergone a thorough renovation before the 2011 edition of the 50-over World Cup, which India co-hosted.
Renovation of hospitality boxes at Wankhede Stadium
Mumbai Cricket Association additionally stated that Wankhede stadium’s hospitality boxes would be renovated. In order to fill positions for Project Management Consultants who match the requirements, MCA also issued an invitation to applicants from reputable organizations.
They released another statement quoting, “Mumbai Cricket Association would be undertaking the renovation of hospitality boxes at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Association invites applications from reputed organizations to be appointed as Project Management Consultants who fulfill the following eligibility criteria.”
