India is all set to host the eagerly anticipated ICC Men’s Cricket One-Day World Cup 2023 from October 5 to November 19. A total of 48 matches will be contested amongst the 10 competing teams throughout the event, which will take place at 10 locations around India.
On October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the opening game of the tournament will take place between England and New Zealand. The crucial World Cup match between India and Pakistan will also take place at the same stadium on October 14. The semifinals will be decided by the top four teams in the group stage points standings.
The full competition will take place in India for the first time this year and before this year’s world cup India co hosted the previous editions of the ICC World Cup together with Pakistan (1987, 1996), Sri Lanka (1996, 2011), and Bangladesh (2011).
This year’s World Cup will be the first edition in which the West Indies are not going to participate. The Windies were defeated by Scotland in the World Cup qualifiers and hence failed to qualify for the 2023 ICC World Cup.
All teams participating in the ICC Men’s Cricket ODI World Cup 2023 must finalize their 15-player squads before September 28, 2023. Any replacements made after this date will require the approval of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
