Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s Men’s Cricket Team, has become only the second batsman in history to record ten T20 hundreds. He accomplished this while playing for the Colombo Strikers in a Lanka Premier League group stage match against the Galle Titans. The Galle Titans, led by Dasun Shanaka, set a goal of 189 runs for the strikers to chase in 20 overs, and Babar showed his class while opening the innings for the Strikers. He hit 104 runs off 59 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes.
It was a terrific innings from the Pakistan captain which astonished the Pallekelle crowd. This was also his tenth century in T20 cricket, making him only the second batsman in the format’s history to do so behind Chris Gayle, who has a whopping 22 tons. Babar Azam is second in this category, with 8 hundreds, followed by Virat Kohli, Aaron Finch, David Warner, and Aaron Finch.
In terms of his T20 career, Babar Azam has amassed an astounding 10 tons and 77 half-centuries, totaling 9412 runs in 254 innings (264 T20s) at a strike rate of roughly 129. With this victory, Colombo Strikers moved up to third place, curiously setting up the competition well with two wins after four games for each of the five teams. Babar Azam was named Man of the Match in both of the Strikers’ victories. The Strikers were chasing for the first time this season, and they triumphed in the nail-biting final over courtesy of Babar’s magnificent century.

Things seemed very difficult for the Strikers, though, as they needed 14 runs off the final five balls when Babar was dismissed in the penultimate over. When the squad required 10 runs off the final three balls, Mohammad Nawaz held his composure to strike crucial boundaries and lead them to victory.
